Actual 2015-16 bowl payouts (link)

These are the payouts that will factor into next year's tax return report I presume, exclusive of the contract amounts. Also looks like they are limited to top 25.

BTW no one is arguing that the ACC had an unusual year in 2014-2015 due to Maryland.

And no one is arguing that the bowl payouts vary by year based on the playoff and participation, etc.

The point is the ACC schools made more that year than the PAC schools and most of the Big 12 schools (and now that you acknowledge the difference between net and gross, the Big 12 reports the gross payout, the ACC reports the net payout).

You try to discount the significance of that by basically saying "yeah, but it won't happen again!" But it DID happenafter the Dude and you and a few others somehow missed pointing it out at the time you were going apoplectic when all the bowl deals were being cut.

Another point I believe you are overly discounting is that unlike the PAC and especially the Big 12, the ACC is the only one of those 3 that has an opportunity to change its course right now relative to media income. The ACC has a built in opportunity in its contract that calls for one (or perhaps both) of 2 things to occur, a "network" that will provide increased income or increased rights fees. So the deal the ACC signed calls for it to make more.

And finally, yet another point where I think you're missing the significance is the Tier 3 issue. The Tier 3 deal you hail for the Big 12 is what prevents it from negotiating for a network and relegates it to its current status unless Texas and OU make significant internal concessions. No conference will EVER make that mistake again and it may very lead to the Big 12's demise.

The ACC GoR which you rail against is the reason the ACC is in the position it is in now, negotiating for a network/increased rights fees. And you suggest that somehow since ESPN owns the broadcast rights that the ACC won't make more money? Uh, it is BECAUSE ESPN owns those rights that the ACC can make more money through a "network" and/or increased rights fees.

The PAC (which has a network and individual Tier 3 rights) has no one to negotiate with for more money. To cut costs it (and its individual members) would have to renegotiate (DOWNward, btw) literally dozens of contracts in order to reduce production/content as you suggest. And/or it will have to sell all or part of its network, which will REDUCE its take of the profit by whatever fraction it sells.

And while there is no easy out for the PAC, there may be no out at all for the Big 12. David Boren and Gordon Gee would probably kill to be in the ACC's contract position right now.

You have said, ad nauseum (not an exaggeration), that you think the ACC will blow the current opportunity and if they do, I guess we anoint you King of the Board or something. But if the ACC comes out of it measurably ahead of the PAC and Big 12, can we refer to you as Baghdad Chuck?
