Actually my focus is on the various interactions between the media and the school. The player's crimes just happened to be the catalyst for the interactions. VT was open and allowed the legal process to run its course, so it wouldn't have gotten slammed by the media like what they are doing to Baylor now. However, a few eyebrows were raised by the media when VT announced it was reinstating MV2 to both the school and the team. Some even questioned whether he should be allowed to return given his history.

Now what I don't know and will never know is whether a few more eyebrows would have been raised by the media if it had happened in a post Penn State scandal world. Likewise, we will never know whether he would have been reinstated or remained kicked out of school (in a post Penn State scandal world). I was just curious to know Vienna's opinion since MV2 was probably the biggest scandal during Beamer's tenure.
