Profit in this case isn't the point

It is widely believed that one reason ESPN did what they did with UT is to keep them from moving to an exclusively Fox conference, the PAC12. Call it an investment with future dividends on ESPN's part. And if the B12 breaks up and UT moves to say the ACC or SEC, a wise one.

If Boren sticks to his word and UT sticks with the LHN, there is no B12 network. Can't be. But if Fox sweetens the pot with Oklahoma to appease them and keep them in the B12, then it is the same kind of investment.

I know that bears out to uneven revenue distribution, but that has been the case with UT and the LHN anyway. The rest of the conference might groan, but if it means staying in a nice, safe P5 conference with the accompanying payouts, then I doubt you hear much whining about it.

What other options would ISU or KSU or teams like that have?...a crapshoot hoping to get picked up by another P5? Expanding then with G5's to replace a cornerstone program like Oklahoma?

None of those are very good options.
