Ryan Bamford, AD at UMass Amherst, got the job in March, 2015.

His previous job was Senior Associate AD at Georgia Tech. He oversaw football, basketball, and baseball operations at Georgia Tech plus facilities. He has tons of contacts within the ACC. It would not surprise me if he inquired with the ACC about what he might need to do to make UMass Amherst attractive to the ACC. But he knew that they were not ready in 2015.

BTW, I think that the ACC should invite UMass-Amherst to be an associate member for men's lacrosse like the B1G did with Johns Hopkins. We could use presence in New England for lacrosse. UMass is a member of the A10 for most of their stuff, but they have to go to CAA for men's lacrosse.
