So if someone became a Diamond Hokie in 2015 (first year), they would get 11000 points but have only 10K total givings. So they would be significantly above all Platinum, Gold and Silver Hokies in 2015. Under the new system, they would fall like a rock even though their 2015 ranking was very high.

The Clemson system seems to find a happy medium, where both a large current gift AND lifetime giving have pretty equal footing.

As stated above, I think they need to consider this. If in my first year I plopped 25K down on Whit's desk I would like to think I would be given a bone for this huge donation rather than be compared against everyone else who had 25K in total giving.
