Most young alums take a standard deduction, so the whole write off argument
doesn't really fly.
Not singling you out, but many try to prop up deductions like they are credits. you are getting a fraction of the money back, and that's only if you don't have other incomes to offset it. The tax break argument is weak, IMO.
