Whit changed and given he's been quite competent at the job thus far it's reasonable to give him the benefit of the doubt on this approach. As far as the past, it was shotgun approach, cast as wide a net as possible, offer some token incentives, and you get what you get without losing sleep. It was byproduct of a career civil servant/accountant type running the show. I know VT was very buttoned up in that regard prior to Whit and that's great but to me that's too specialized a focus for a general manager. There was zero marketing skills at the top. Not the case anymore and he's earned a chance to try it his way.
