I LOVE VT, and our football team, but I've got a retirement to finance too

Sorry for being selfish.

I think if you want to really put it in perspective for youngish grads, then tell them about the tax benefits. It's NOT just getting season tickets. You can write off most of it, and then get season tickets. Most of us aren't thinking about that right now.

Also, they need to find a reliable way for folks to get to VT from NOVA without having to stay the night. Hotels are crazy expensive with multiple night minimums, and then you have to drive out there....Give me a Hokie Bus from NOVA where I can drink on the route, and come back immediately afterward, then they could have my money. I know there's one, but they are flaky as Hell. I had to give up tickets to a game on my birthday two years ago because they didn't have enough interest.

Finally, you can't even buy a drink in the stadium! What the Hell?

Until then, it makes sense TO ME, to put that money into my 401K, IRA, and brokerage account, then watch it on my big screen. Call it the CochraneResident Club....
