First of all saret - thanks for the write up. Interesting to say the least.

I do have a letter from the VTAF, dated September 25, 2012, that says the following:

"As a major donor to athletics, you are aware of the 2002 decision by the VTAF Board of Directors to require a $500 minimum sustaining annual gift once your major gift pledge is complete. Although such a gift was not required for major gift pledges before this date, we ask both groups of donors to assist us with this very important cause. For the 2012-13 academic year, the athletics scholarship bill rose to $11.2 million, and we expect it to continue to rise yearly.

It doesn't say anything about maintaining your level though. I guess they could say, "you can just give $500 a year. But now it gets you two seats in the $250 range. Thanks and move along."
