To me, that was the noticeable "beginning of the end".


It's also "broke the back" of the huge post following that Tech had enjoyed up to that point. It's when a lot of Hokies stopped going to bowl games.

There was zero excuse in losing to Kansas. Zero. We were a better team, talent wise than they were.

Poor in game coaching decisions. Why stop running the ball when the K defense hadn't shown the ability to stop our running game? Was Kansas starting to cheat and bring more DB's into the box? Yes. Was Kansas beginning to stop the running game? NO. If I'm an OC, and play caller, if the opponent had 12 [sic] in the box, if they could stop my running attack, I'd keep on running the ball. 2 good things would happen doing that. 1) The defense would get worn down, and 2) the length of the game would be shortened.

And after the game, Beamer admitted he treated bowl games as a reward for the team, and especially for the seniors. It was not a business trip.

And if he thinks that, the players sure sense it also.
