Proud Dad day

My son made his HS team as an 8th grader last night.

IA HS baseball is a summer sport so 8th graders can play (they are technically 9th graders when games start June 1).

Most proud of the fact that 2 year ago he decided he loved baseball and wanted to play in HS. Until then he had just played youth league and was unremarkable, he understood he wasn't going to make the team as it was. He has put in the work on his own at home, asking me to hit him fly balls in the evenings, beating a heavy bag with a bat in the basement, running track and cross country to make himself faster so he could be a better outfielder. The smile on his face when I picked him up from the last day of tryouts when he said "I have practice at 4 tomorrow" was priceless.
