Interactions with the opposing Right Fielder made the Hill even more fun
I remember one game, I forget against who, where Tim Bueheller hit a shot in the RC gap. Someone on the hill just started shouting at the RF to "throw it to 3rd...no way in hell he's stopping at 2nd"
And probably the best I remember is an outfielder for Howard U. They used to come to town for a multi game series and get (usually) pretty well destroyed.
The Howard right fielder was kinda cool, doing some back and forth with the students out there, some friendly chatter, other good natured barbs back and forth.
Howard was being killed when they brought him in from RF to pitch in relief...and the hill started cheering for him. What the heck, right? Nice guy, Hokies had a big lead.
He struck out George Canale and the hill went nuts. Canale was kinda pissed that VT students/fans were cheering for the Howard pitcher, but ultimately I think he took it in stride.
