Logically it makes sense since Fresno State and Hawai'i


may be Boise State's biggest football rivals. The only potential monkey wrench to the plan is if Hawai'i decides to become an Independent in football or even drop the program. Since the school was dealing with budgetary issues in recent years, the program may be better served to become a FBS Independent. Currently it plays 7 or 8 home games just about every season. By becoming an Independent then the school could possibly increase it up to 10 games a season. Since switching to the FCS subdivision is not a viable option (due to the lack of western schools that sponsor football), becoming an Independent may be the only way the program can survive.
