Here's exactly what I would have done. Here's what I would do now.
I would have added WVU as number 12 and Rutgers and Pitt as 13 and 14 if necessary. The ACC would have established a presence from Philly/NJ to Miami. Maryland would not have left such a league.
I would not have negotiated such a long deal in 2010 with Miami, FSU, and Clemson fielding their worst teams of the modern era. I would have pushed for ESPN to establish a network the way they did for Texas. If ESPN was not willing, I would have done exactly what the Pac12 did only months later. I would have made dang sure any tier 3 content was available to establish the ACC's own. Again, the Pac12N is already profitable. The demos of the ACC pretty much assure its network would have been more profitable than that one. Just a ton more people and fans.
And don't get me started about what they did to the ACCCG and such. Horrible.
Now here's what I would do now.
I would add WVU and UCONN. ND aint coming now. WVU would take a hit on that GOR to get into a local league.
I would establish the football schedules with the following pods.
ACCN:
UCONN
Cuse
BC
Louisville
ACCMA:
VT
UVA
Pitt
WVU
ACCNC:
UNC
Duke
Wake
NC St
ACCS:
FSU
Clemson
GT
Miami
With only 7 conference games, the Textile Bowl and UNC vs. UVA games could be played OOC in years in which the two aren't matched up. VT could play Miami or Clemson or FSU OOC too. In fact, I would encourage regular OOC games between ACC teams.
And again, I would do my best to get this network up and running.
