I know I'm stating the obvious here, but job hunting is frustrating...
Most of you know my deal. I'm in Mexico. I want back in the U.S., but my it will be hard to convince my SO to go unless I have some kind of job lined up that pays reasonably well (I'm not greedy. Reasonably well for me is 40-50k). I continue to search and apply, all the while knowing that me being here doesn't help when they look at my resume and application. I'm mainly focusing on Florida and Texas, but I'm open to just about anywhere. I found a really good position in Houston, which is almost identical to what I do now (college counseling), but even though the job post was active, the vacancy was filled. I'm also not opposed to finding a better paying job here in Mexico, and I've applied to positions at the U.S. Embassy mainly, but I feel it's hard to get your foot in the door. Same with regards to govt. jobs in the States, which I've also applied to. Venting over. I just know a lot of folks in the Lounge have been through the whole job search thing before, so I figured better to vent here than at home. I'll keep trying as always. I lose nothing but time sending in applications and resumes, so it's worth it.
