I tend to agree. An ACC-BigXII merger of sorts could be great.
Obviously 25 teams would be too many. But the ACC might want to look at taking on whatever it needs to to get Texas and OU. After that, they can work on contraction to get it to a manageable number. This could be done two ways:
1) By simply buying out the undesirables that no one else would want (Wake, BC, et al).
2) Or, you could do it this way. Realizing that the other conferences will now be limited in their expansion choices since OU and Texas are off the table, you could make "available" schools from states where the ACC has multiple teams and could afford to lose one. For example, let (and encourage) Texas Tech to go to the Pac 12, and VT and NCState to go to the SEC. If teams and conferences are resistant to this, throw a little cash in with the deal.
There are obviously schools that the ACC won't want to let go of: UNC, FSU, Clemson, UVa, OU and Texas (and maybe Kansas, Duke, and Syracuse for BBall). And I could see ND, if the P5 got down to a P4, wanting to join this new ACC fulltime.
