The Big Ten is not going to revert back to its version

of the zipper model (aka Leaders and Legends). The Big Ten realizes (based off the SEC's experience) there is an ebb and flow between the divisions. Iowa's experience in the Rose Bowl will not force the Big Ten to realign its divisions again because the Big Ten has had other bad Rose Bowl losses in the past. The most recent was in 2008 (#6 USC 49 vs. #13 Illinois 17). In the 1990s the Big Ten had 1 bad Rose Bowl loss (1992: #2 Washington 34 vs. #4 Michigan 14). In the 1980s, the Big Ten had 3 within a 4 or 5 year period. In the 1970s Ohio State had a similar loss to USC. In the 1960s Wisky had a bad loss to Washington.

My point is that blowouts in bowl games sometimes happens. Heck the Big Ten is more than familiar with them from their second-tier blowout bowl losses to SEC teams. Just because they happen doesn't mean a conference automatically needs to change the way it does things.
