Don't think ND wants to be the Midwestern Catholic School.


ND wants to showcase football in all of the major population markets across the US. They get all of them on the East Coast down to Florida with the ACC. With the Big Ten, they get NY only. And to do that they have to play Rutgers. They've had 100 years to play Rutgers. Done it only 5 times. They'll keep doing what they're doing: Play Syracuse or Army in New York. They get DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia with Navy.

To date, I haven't seen Notre Dame football wanting to give up all of the eastern presence to go be a Midwestern Catholic School that plays Rutgers and Maryland. Maybe the money will be so much that they will. I'll believe that when I see it.

ND might want to schedule more games with Michigan, Michigan State, and Purdue. But they won't want to play the rest of the Big Ten slate to be able to do so. They don't need the Big Ten for Chicago visibility. I'm not sure they care so much about Cleveland.
