Villanova inquired about ACC membership 5 years ago.

Boston College was sponsoring Villanova to the ACC then. But without FBS football, it makes no sense. Villanova is in the right conference for an athletics program like they have. There are too many other available choices that have both football and men's basketball to consider Villanova. Temple is one located right in the same town as Villanova.
