Most will agree BC was/is a disaster. WVU solidified the league.


Just look at the potential schedules. Those would have sold a lot more tickets and generated better ratings than what we now have. That markets over substance issue is exactly why the league is now second tier. And it was predictable. I realized BC wasn't a good add. I posted about it on TSL. MANY folks did. I predicted adding another interested/fball-centric fanbase would be in the ACC's best interest. Posted about it on TSL. Those knuckleheads actually though playing an ACC baseball tourney in Fenway was a good idea. They REALLY did think the ACC would become a big deal up there. They really quickly learned what many many folks here predicted, folks in Boston do not give a crap about BC and they care even less about the ACC. It WAS predictable. Again, look at the potential schedules and what WVU has done in the revenue sports these last dozen years. Look at the butts in seats and ratings. There's a reason the Big12 reached across the country for them. The ACC turned them down to reach for BC. HORRIBlE move and many persons called it.

If you're a season ticket holder at VT, which lineup would you have liked? Heck, I think there's strong chance Clemson would have been made our cross division rival in such a lineup. Consider a VT schedule of

Miami
UVA
WVU
Duke
UNC
Clemson
and (FSU, NC St, Maryland, Wake, and GT rotating through every 2 or 3 years.)

Do you think Maryland would have left such a league set up? WVU was a bit of a rival of theirs.
