Give me someone with a scientific type of mind that takes evidence into consideration for policies rather than simply following the lobby bought party line, and I would be happy. I really couldn't care less about their religion (or lack thereof) as long as it doesn't significantly influence their policies.

Quick google... from a 2015 Gallup poll, 58% of Americans said they would vote for an atheist for president (among choices of Catholic, woman, black, Hispanic, Jewish, Mormon, gay or lesbian, evangelical, Muslim, or socialist, only socialist got a lower percentage).
