If the Pac-12 or SEC is able to add Oklahoma by itself

then neither conference has any incentive to add Oklahoma State too. The current trend with expansion is that conferences are looking to only add 1 school from a state. Even if the state of Oklahoma was as large as the state of Texas, I am not sure that would be enough for either conference to add both schools. The only state that might be the exception to the rule is the state of California. Given its shape, 2 distinct markets have developed within the state; North California and South California. If Texas had more development in the western half, then both conferences might find Texas Tech more desirable.
