I recently attended a baseball game between Dinwiddie High School and Hanover High School, where my cousin's son, who is a junior and an excellent student and who aspires to become an engineer, is in the pitching rotation behind three seniors.
The starting pitcher for Hanover had quite a day in a game shortened because it was 10-0 after five innings. I lost count, but after giving up one single, my cousin tabbed him with about a dozen strike outs. In addition, the young man had a grand slam over the center field wall and two doubles, accounting for more RBI. I was told the young man is heading to High Point University. I was also told that four other seniors are receiving scholarships to play for Div. 1 schools, including UVA but excluding VA Tech.
It made me wonder if we are recruiting in the Richmond area?
