Keeping good assistants will always be a challenge


The only way to avoid the problem of having to replace good assistants who other teams want to promote is to hire bad assistants. That's a worse problem. The reality is that a HC has to be ready to deal with transition beneath him, and success makes that transition even more inevitable.
