Sal and Dennis and other random thoughts from ACC/JPJ

I enjoyed the wrestling at JPJ and it is a wonderful facility. I frequently found myself cheering for a UVA wrestler (vs NCSU); feeling weird and sort of dirty at the same time! Not a normal occurrenceand yes the NCSU fans are starting to annoy me..

We were so close so many times but as it seems like it happens so often, our offense is not the same in the ACCs as in dual matches. Maybe the quality of opponents, nerves or strategy but it APPEARED NCSU and others pushed the pace more than we did or we could not finish shots OR waited too late in the match. Very disappointed for our guys but it was not a lack of effort. (What is it with all the tall kids at NCSU and how do they make the weight and have the strength. Fausz was as tall or taller then Joey at the 2nd place spot on the podium). Maybe one of the expert can talk about NCSU and their length recruiting..

Dennis is not the same with that big bulky knee brace. I think his stance goes to hell and he lacks confidence giving up that leg. I hope he can move to a smaller sleeve as time goes on. He has shown times of brilliance this season but inconsistently.

Sal is a great kid who I happened to get know a little through a camp. I saw him in the hall way and you could not imagine a more crushed kid. So when you think about blowing these kids up, remember the sacrifices they make and want it more than you can imagine. Brain cramps happen to all of us, his just came at the worst possible moment. He had Beau exhausted and was ready to finish him off, just got a little out of position. I offered words of encouragement to Sal but I am not sure he heard a word I said.

Enough of what could have been, now to look to what could be - NYC and MSG. Go HOKIES!
