They're called nonrevenue sports for a reason.


Doubt Michigan makes enough from softball ticket sales to cover the insurance for the team, let alone coaching salaries.

Yes, schools might have one or two nonrevenue sports that break even or slightly better, but 95percent of NON-REVENUE sports do not.

Tell me who exactly benefits from Michigan or VT field hockey teams. Fans? No. The school? No. They cost the school a bunch of dough. The students? Not really. The community? Hardly.
