The P5 and the NFL are not that much different than you may think

In terms of quality of teams, the gap between the NFL's best teams and the NFL's worst teams is just as proportional as the gap between the P5's best teams and the P5's worst teams.

In terms of "ownership of markets," there may not be as much ownership as you think given that some markets are "shared" by 2 teams (i.e. NYC, Bay Area, etc.) and the networks (i.e. CBS and Fox) have more flexibility now that they are able to televise both conferences. Plus, the NFL's "blackout rule" can limit how much "ownership" a team can have over its market. If a game is blacked out in a particular market, then another game (usually involving teams outside that market) will just be televised in its place.
