Like hokiehoo1, I respect your opinion
IMHO, I have been very fair to Dennis Wolff. I have been patient with him and his staff to develop a competitive ACC WBB program.
Has Dennis Wolff improved the team from last year? Yes, but not as much as a majority of fans on this board have wanted. Wolff still has 3 games to go. If he wins the last 2 regular season games, we are 17-12. If we win at least 2 ACC WBB Tourney games, we are 19-13. If all this happens, I may reconsider replacing Wolff. I have my doubts that this will happen.
When we got into the ACC schedule and began losing, I was still giving Wolff the benefit of the doubt since we were playing some of the top ACC teams. My "litmus test" were home games against NC State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Duke, and Pitt. We ended 0-5 against those teams. I also believed that we could've beaten UNC in Chapel Hill. Except for the UVA road win, I've been disappointed in our conference play. The home loss to Pitt made me change my mind on keeping Wolff.
I personally like Dennis Wolff. I don't wish him or anyone on his staff ill will. I know how it feels to lose a job or not succeed in your job. I only hoped the best for Dennis Wolff when he took the job. I am happy for him and the team when they win, but after 5 seasons, I believe it is time to move in a new direction. I said in December that I would wait until the end of the season to decide. Well, we have 2 regular season games remaining and I have seen enough to convince me that we need a new head WBB coach.
The question that I ask myself is "Would most ACC athletic directors replace a WBB coach with the 5 year record of Dennis Wolff?" My answer is "Yes." Beth Dunkenberger's final 4 seasons were 15-15, 12-18, 15-15, and 11-19. Jim Weaver fired her even though she was a wonderful human being. [Post edited by Old Line Hokie at 02/22/2016 9:42PM]
