A person could decide to stop donating for other reasons

that has nothing to do with the football program. I have a co-worker, who is a Missouri fan and used to donate to the school. The reason he stopped donating is that recent changes in his personal life caused him to re-prioritize things in his life. The only example he would share with me is that he moved from MO to VA because of job. However, it sounds like there was other factors in his decision. He did say that the losing season, the protests, or how they handled the Mauck situation had no bearing on his decision. So it is possible that there are other Missouri fans in a similar boat as my co-worker that the author may have misidentified for the article.
