So I only loosely follow wrestling

But I remember about 5 years ago they announced that there was going to be a new national duals based tournament that they were hoping would replace the NCAA tournament. Was that the national duals? How did that become a one matchup system instead of a tournament and is there any hope of the national title being switched to a dual meet format?
