Isn't there another way? Why can't TIVO build in upgradablility?


See the XBox One for example.

CableCard also isn't two waythat's why it's been for the most part phased out (other than with TIVO). You can't even really buy a TV with CableCard access anymore. This is what I was getting at below with TVs getting smaller, thinner, and more of them being mounted on walls, who wants a big ugly box sitting out? The functionality needs to be built directly into the TVs or at least a very small adapter that attaches on the wire into the TV.
