It becomes like TIVO


Which I have. If I have a problem, I troubleshoot it myself... and by that I mean I unplug it for 10 seconds and try restarting because that's the first step.

If that doesn't work, if I have lights on the box, I call Comcast. They tell me "hmmm.... I dont' see your box. Let me ping it." and then it's fixed when they say "now I see it". If that doesn't work, if Comcast says "it's all working" then I call Tivo and they do their thing.

In this case, replace Tivo with any other box manufacturer. People just have to learn if they go that route. Comcast help desk will be frustrated telling people it's not them, people will get angry, but whatever.
