You're reading WAY too much into it


It's simply just a numbers game. It's not just VT and the B1G.

ACC, B1G & SEC schools play one fewer conference game than the Pac12 & Big12 and need to add at least one more power 5 team to their future schedules. Almost every B1G school (except Iowa) and more than half of the ACC lacks an annual in-state rivalry game with a non-conf power 5 program.

Virtually every ACC team without an SEC in-state annual rivalry game has at least 1 B1G team on their future schedule; the teams with such an annual SEC rivalry game don't. And most ACC schools' schedules aren't as built out as VTs yet - expect to see more B1G schools on other ACC future schedules as they fill out simply because the ACC teams and B1G teams need each other out of necessity.
