Brands responds ....


This was on an Iowa message board, and it seems legit although I couldn't find the original source. Nice spin twisting it to "Too bad Iowa can't meet Penn State." Of course, you could also accuse Brands of calling Dresser a high school coach.

The response from Tom Brands after Virginia Tech coach Kevin Dresser's comments calling out Iowa and the NWCA:

“My memories of Kevin Dresser are that he won a national championships in 1986 right here at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. I was a junior in high school and that was my birthday present. That was a big deal to me. He was someone I always looked up to. When he was coaching high school, he was a great coach and he hired me to do clinics.

“If there is any controversy with the national duals, it’s that Iowa should be wrestling Penn State for the national championship.”
