Windshield vs. tree across road . . .

My son was on his way to work Monday morning at 5:30. He didn't see the tree across the road in time, started to brake, but the road was too icy, so he slid right into the tree. No injuries. To make things worse, he hadn't been home but about five minutes when he got a call from his work telling him that he didn't need to come in because their electricity was out. Waiting for estimate now. Any guesses on cost? 1996 Jeep Cherokee.
