It is not a tournament. It is an invitational dual match showcasing the best teams in the country. The Big Ten is loaded and is the host sort of. They take 8 top schools from the Big Ten, the dual regular season champ from 7 other conferences (VT from ACC) and one at large school.

It works kind of like the Big Ten-ACC challenge in basketball where there is a pairing based on rankings. The teams are seeded but they match the tope Big Ten team against the highest rank non-Big Ten team and so on. Only one dual match is wrestled.

The champion can only come from the top two teams....in this case the Penn State vs opp winner. All others are essentially wrestling for pride.

I think I got this right.
