February 18, 1977 comes to mind...


I remember having to go down to Saltville for the funerals of my Grandfather and my Grandfather's brother (my great uncle) died 2 days apart.

I had stopped in Pembroke and picked up my cousin and we came thru Bland County (Rt. 42) just missing the storm and getting to Saltville OK...I was driving a green '69 Chevy K5 Blazer.

By Monday there was nothing moving, down in Saltville anyway, and we didn't get out until Friday. I took my cousin back to Pembroke, took another cousin back to Farmville and went on back home to Varina.

I think the campus closed for a day but my old memory is fuzzy.
