This is how I see this conference season..
Tech has had 7 winnable ACC games (based on this team's talent) thus far. Tech is 3-4 in those games.
Home games: BC -W, Clemson-W, NC State-L, GA Tech-L, Pitt-L
Road Games: UVA-W, UNC-L
One of Tech's goals was to go undefeated at home. The NC State loss ended that goal. Since then, Tech has gone 0-3 at home vs. Miami, GT, and Pitt. We have 2 more home games (Duke and UVA)
Tech is now 3-9 in the ACC. If UVa defeats BC tonight, they are ahead of us and Tech is in the bottom 1/5 of the conference (Pitt is ahead of us due to today's win), exactly where we've been during Wolff's tenure.
Tech is presently 3-9 in the ACC and 15-10 over all. To be optimistic, 17 wins looks likely. That would give us a 17-12 record. That is WNIT bubble at best. IMHO, 19-13 would get us considered for a WNIT. A first round ACC Tourney loss makes us 17-13 which ends any hopes of a WNIT bid.
I like Dennis Wolff as a person but the team hasn't improved during the conference season. Honestly, there's nothing positive about today's home loss to a bad Pitt team. We have 4 more regular season games to play. I won't be satisfied with nothing less than 3-1, that means a home win over Duke and wins over Wake and UVA. The way we've played the past month, that is probably asking too much from this team.
