The problem is not the stadium, it's the fans (or lack thereof)

It's not like Duke or Wake Forest look any better just because their "crowd" of 30,000 nearly fills their stadiums.

For what it is worth, Heinz Field isn't all that big. Capacity is 68,400 after a recent upgrade to the seats on the end near the river. It is much smaller than FedEx Field (Redskins) or Beaver Stadium (Penn State).
