Before Dennis was hired I heard that there were two


guys that were really interested in the job - Kenny Brooks at JMU and Tim Taylor, a JMU grad who was a primary recruiter and assistant coach for Debbie Ryan at Virginia. You may not know of Taylor but he coached basketball and softball at Madison County High School in Virginia prior to landing at Virginia and made a lot of college women's basketball recruiting connections while at Virginia. And Brooks has done a good job at JMU. Dennis had no women's basketball connections when he took the VT job, and i believe it still haunts him and VT to some degree now.

Not to beat up a dead horse again, but I do not believe Jim Weaver fully understood the ramifications of hiring Dennis with regard to the women's basketball environment. There were player communications and administrative issues in the first years of his tenure. I believe Dennis knows how to coach, but not sure he knows how to coach women's basketball at the Division 1 level. Just my opinion.
