Texas likes the status quo. As long as there's a Big12, they're golden.
And I don't see ESPN making them move. How would they? ESPN MIGHT pay them off and walk away from the LHN eventually, but Texas is getting more money and exposure than anyone right now. Why change that?
Adding BYU, UCONN, Cinn or USF to a 9 game schedule is no problem for Texas. It doesn't matter. They will play a couple of quality OOC teams each year (the likes of ND, OSU and USC) and then a cream puff to get them to 7 home games and smile all the way to the bank.
Texas will not be the ones to directly break up the Big12. They will do all they can to keep it together. Life is good for them. They hired a couple of dud fball coaches, but it's just a matter of time before they're in the Playoffs.
And do they really want to join a league in which they're regularly sending their athletic teams thousands of miles away. I could see them being an independent before doing that. They may just have enough pull to make it happen. They could easily go out and schedule a home and home with VT. I would love it. They could also work out 2 for 1s with the ECUs of the world as well.
