We need Comcast/NBCU/NBC Sports Group to throw ESPN and the ACC a bone


This actually seems like a bit of simple economics.

Comcast/NBC needs content for NBC Sports, NBCSN, and the local Comcast regional sports networks that they own. Right now NBC has Sunday night and some Thursday night NFL, Notre Dame home football, Olympics, Golf Channel, British Open, Premier League soccer, NHL, Men In Blazers...and that is about it. Their RSNs own local pro sports programming.

NBCSN has such little content that it has been forced to show auto auctions on weekend afternoon once soccer goes off the air.

Comcast is sitting on a ton of cash.

Disney is under pressure and ESPN's financials are beginning to not look as promising thanks to cord cutting and expensive right's fees that they have paid out.

This sounds like the makings of an easy solution. Let's have Comcast buy out the ACC rights deal from ESPN solving some of the Disney cash crunch. Comcast can get a network up and running and can guarantee carriage on all cable systems nationwide out of the box.

NBC, NBCSN, and the local RSNs will have a ton of programming that they previously did not have.
