For those who think the ACC is ESPN's most valuable BB property...

I present this as a counter argument

Today's broadcast games:

ESPN: WVU/UF (SEC), Iowa St./aTm (SEC), OK/LSU (SEC), Necktucky/Kansas (SEC)

ESPN2: Vandy/Big TX (SEC), Tenn/TCU (SEC), BC/UNC (ACC), UGA/Baylor (SEC), OK St./Auburn (SEC)

ESPNU: GT/Cuse (ACC), Ole Miss/KSU (SEC), TT/Arkansas (SEC)

That's 10 SEC BB games to 2 ACC BB games. For those mathematically challenged, the SEC is being shown 5X more often on ESPN's broadcast channels (and I didn't even include the SECN games). Wouldn't be surprised if every SEC BB game is being televised today.

I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but that tells me either (a) ESPN doesn't value ACC BB any more than they value ACC FB, or (b) they are trying to devalue the ACC in order to show a mythical ACCN isn't worth their time & money (or to severely cut any future payments to the ACC), or (c) they think Swoffart is a punk they can push around with east.

Now option C is probably a given, but I don't see this as a positive indication the ACC is on solid ground when it comes to ESPN. Probably SEC to ACC basketball telecasts aren't always this lopsided, but it always seems to be at least 2:1 in favor of SEC BB broadcasts. (Frankly, its probably normally 3:1 or higher every Saturday...and I mean every Saturday!)

At least we have ESPN3 to cover ACC basketball... Face it, the ACC is one of the kids sitting on the bench in the back room of the Omega house.

Anyone want to provide an alternate explanation why SEC BB is so desired over ACC BB? Anyone? Beuler?

Anyone know why the ACC shouldn't pursue other ACCN options?

Pretty clear once our ESPN contract concludes in 10 years, we need to really seek other broadcast corporations, because we are ESPN's unwanted "little red headed stepchild."
