If the Big XII (or Big XIV since the conference owns the copyrights)

added those 4 schools, then the North Division would stretch from WV to UT which may be "too big" for the non-revenue sports. If the conference is going to add any "east" schools, then it may need to add both Cincinnati and Memphis. For scheduling purposes, Memphis could become a good "rival" for Iowa State.

Also, a 14-member conference can present scheduling issues (specifically for the final week of the regular season) because each division will have 1 team without a divisional conference game. So either those teams will have to try to schedule an OOC game on the final week of the regular season or play a cross-divisional conference game. If the conference goes the cross-divisional route, then it could potentially have a rematch a week later in the CCG. If the conference just adds 2 teams (i.e. Cincinnati and Memphis), then it avoids a potential rematch 1 week later.

Iowa St-Memphis
Kansas-Kansas St
Oklahoma-Oklahoma St
