Because Miss St fans would riot if they were to be blocked from seeing any

game. Pitt fans would have a small, loud contingent while the rest of the "fanbase" collectively lets out a yawn. If you remember, ESPN and the SEC were in an all out war with the providers. ESPN had the backing of crazed fans who were in danger of missing some of their football games.
