I don't like the notion of getting a coach getting involved in this case

because the most important aspect of the issue at hand here is safety. I would rather not have anyone's perception of competitive advantages or disadvantages being a factor. I don't want Buzz to be in a position of needing to argue the importance of his team's preparation over the safety of the opposing team & support staff and our own stadium staff, fans and students...

With regards to your comment on Roy potentially dictating UNC's response if the situation were reversed - if that were to be true, and it very well may be, I think VT not approaching it that way reflects better on the strength of our athletic department than it does on UNC. Coaches should not be running the show or placed in some above everyone king/dictator position.

Personally, I would just expect that whoever contributed to VT's end of the decision would call Buzz immediately and say, "this is what's happening and why... please adjust your schedule accordingly"

I just don't think anything is gained by providing Buzz with an opportunity to disagree for a relatively trivial reason. And as far as I know, Buzz's issue is when he heard the news, not whether or not he was consulted on the decision or had an opportunity to voice his opinion.
