Notre Dame is a very good team......
That team has 8 McDonald's All-Americans, 2 high school national players of the year, 4 McDonald's A-A honorable mentions, and 12 of their 13 players were ranked 44 or higher in ESPNW recruiting rankings. Plus they have a Hall of Fame coach. Notre Dame is one of the few teams that can actually challenge UConn in the NCAA tournament.
With that said, I expected a 20+ point loss today, not a 39 point beat down. Only Sydney Cook showed up to play. IMHO, Magarity and Hicks not in foul trouble would've made it a 25 point loss rather than the 39 point blow out. We had no inside game. We looked timid in the paint except for Cook. Even our outside shots were rushed. This team lives and dies by the 3 when we play quality opponents. Like you said, it's easy to beat upon a team like Clemson. It's easy to drive into the paint. That's why the NC State loss at home really hurt. Tech needs to beat teams like that.
With Hicks in foul trouble and Magarity on the bench, we have basically last season's team. When Hicks was on the bench, our offense was out of sync. There was a lot of standing around and shooting prayer shots from 25 feet. The Miami game will show us where we are as a team. I'm interested to see how we play after the last 2 disappointing loses. Right now, I feel that we're reverting back to the Wolff teams of the past 4 seasons. I hope I'm wrong. The Miami game may make things clearer.
