True, but the triple option and spread offense are different animals.
Maybe even opposites of each other. The triple option is designed to be success with your foot off the gas. Whereas, the spread is designed to be more successful if the foot is full throttle on the gas. Both have a tough time doing the opposite. In the case of a spread offense, there is a better chance for the defense to be on the field longer. The longer a defense is on the field, then the more pressure is placed on the offense to outscore the opposing offense.
