If you look at all the articles, blog discussions, etc.

that talk about Pac-12 expansion, then you will see they consistently say that the Pac-12 is not interested in adding religious affiliated schools (at least to this point in time). Some of the source material is polite and use the justification that those schools aren't a "good fit" for the Pac-12's mission statement. I have even seen some make the claim that those schools are "too conservative" (due to their religious affiliation) for the Pac-12.

The link talks about whether Baylor was a deal breaker for the Pac-10. It is in reference to the report that the Pac-10 was exploring the possibility of becoming the Pac-16.

Here is another (more recent article) I have found that discussion the possibility of the Pac-12 growing to the Pac-16.

"BYU would make a lot of sense, but there is some Pac-12 opposition against adding a school with religious affiliations, so that may not be an option. There are also some academic requirements in play."

Here is another I found that talks about BYU, TCU, and only mentions the snubbing of Baylor (because of its religious affiliation).

You may not like or agree with the Pac-12's position on the issue. However, I am not really sure that matters to the Pac-12 (or any other conference) because it will do what it thinks is "best" for the conference.
