ACC should adopt rotating divisions...
go to a pseudo pro/reg setup where the conf champion + teams 2-4 from their division join the top 3 from the other division the following year and the bottom 7 form the other division. in year 2 of this setup, there would be imbalance, but over time, i think it will balance out. you would still have the 2 division champs play in the championship game. the 6 games would be fixed, then the league would use the 2 other games to preserve rivalries and then fill gaps as needed.
for giggles, i did this for the 2014 and the 2015 season (as independent starting points) down below. i think there is clearly a stronger division in year 2 of the system, but in year 3+, i think you'll see a lot of balance shake out year to year as good teams move "down" for being in the tougher division and bad teams move "up" for having lucky years.
i dunno, i know it's not perfect, but it seems like a fun way of mixing up the schedules while protecting rivalries and producing great TV matchups for ESPN...(and yes, i know there are other ways to do the same thing, ie division champs only swap divisions, bottom 3 or 4 in each division swap places, etc, this was just the example i ran with trying to get the best TV matchups year to year).
